Thanksgiving’s over.  Santa’s on his way.

It’s time to get ready for a really special day.

Put up the lights, dress up your tree.

Put on a grin for the whole world to see.

Barbara’s waiting for the lists.  She has work to do.

Janet’s busy burning disks we can listen to.

Christmas songs will fill the air while catalogs we view.

Light a fragrant candle so the air is festive, too.

So get a pencil, scratch your head, scribble down your thoughts.

If so inclined, and not inspired, doodle stars and dots.

Put your feet up, tilt your chair, gaze around the room.

Within your brain, buried deep, are gifts to make you swoon.

Pull down the boxes, drag out the lights.

Put up the ladder, brave cold winter nights.

Look at the globes and walk down memory lane.

Think about the good things and don’t be a pain

The kids are so excited, from 64 to one.

Santa’s elves are busy, and Santa’s sleigh is done.

It’s time to do your shopping.  It’s time to clean your suit.

It’s time to do the cooking.  It’s time to wrap the loot.

Auntie’s stirring cookie dough and Grammie has “the bird.”

Santa’s bringing mistletoe. At least that’s what I heard.

Don’t fight good feelings.  Don’t give into “blah.”

Deck the halls with holly, singing tra la la la la la la la la!
